That's why I've stopped buying DVDs when they first come out. Chances are
you'll only get sucker punched when a better version is released later on.

In the meantime, I just rent. That way I can watch the newest version
while waiting to see if maybe it makes sense to buy it. Usually can catch
a sale as well.

Ditto. Only I don't rent, I download. If the movie is good and a DVD set
eventually comes out that has more than what I got with the download
I'll buy it.

You're kidding,right? This is SOP for video and music (CDs) releases. The
more releases they can get the public to buy, the more money in the
company's pockets.
